Hi, I’m Jacqui! I am twenty years old and currently studying a Bachelor of Global Studies, specialising in Human Rights, at Monash University. As a young person who is especially interested in how the healthcare system relates to human rights, I am so grateful to be a part of the WH&Y Commission and connect with like minded individuals who also are passionate about improving the health sector for young people. I also love learning about the intersectional nature of health in how it informs policy surrounding sex and gender and hope to do more research in this field. In 2021, I presented a research proposal on the link between the patriarchy and endometriosis and found that medical science often does not consider the impact of sex and gender which subsequently has contributed to the lack of urgency and empathy towards those with endometriosis. Thus, I have loved that throughout the WH&Y Commission, there has been a strong emphasis on ensuring that people from diverse backgrounds and identities are supported and acknowledged.
