Bette Liu is a medically trained epidemiologist who specialises in large scale cohort and record linkage studies. She is an Associate Professor, based in the School of Public Health and Community Medicine at UNSW, and an NHMRC Career Development Fellow. She has a medical degree and a Masters of Public Health from the University of Sydney and completed her DPhil (PhD) at the University of Oxford. ?

Bette has played significant roles in the development of large scale prospective studies both in Australia and overseas. The main focus of her work has been to identify and inform public health prevention strategies for common diseases through the use of observational study designs and analysis of large scale data. She leads a number of studies focusing on sexually transmissible infections and vaccine preventable diseases.

Bette will be involved primarily in Pathways & Costs, where she will use her expertise in record linkage and cohort design and analysis.
