About

Hello! My name is Grace McGowan and I am an Occupational Therapy student at ACU, with a hope to work in paediatrics and with young people post grad!

I am a strong advocate for listening to young people’s experience in the healthcare system and bring lived experience in chronic illness, disability and healthcare sectors. I believe that knowledge and insight is power and understand their importance when relating to healthcare.

Through my personal experiences, I have seen first hand how the system at its current state often lets young people down and I am very passionate in helping to create change and awareness on this topic. I became a WH&Y commissioner to allow my voice to be heard in making a difference and to advocate for those who cannot speak for themselves, to make a proper change in a imperfect system and provide intrinsic insight and help to educate professionals and researchers on the matters effecting young people the most.
