Philippa Collin is a Professor at the Institute for Culture and Society at Western Sydney University and co-director of the Young and Resilient Research Centre (with Associate Professor Amanda Third).
Philippa researches the social, cultural and political dimensions of children and young people’s digital media practices and role in identity, health, wellbeing and citizenship. She has a principal interest in the ethics and methodologies of youth participation in research, policy and service design, delivery and evaluation. Within this work, she has a long-standing interest in the experiences of disadvantaged and marginalised young people and the role of intergenerational collaboration for social change.
Philippa has extensive experience in the non-profit sector and in industry-engaged research, serving from 2011-2016 as a Research Program Leader for the Young and Well Cooperative Research Centre. Philippa has advised community, charitable and government bodies at local, state and national level and is a current member of both The Smith Family Digital Futures Advisory Board and the Raising Children Network Scientific Advisory Committee.
